ČIURLIONIS "TULPELĖS"

The fabric "Tulpelės" was created based on M.K. Čiurlionis vignette for the Lithuanian folk song Sutems tamsi naktužėlė II, 1909.

This fabric is a unique interpretation of Lithuanian folk ornamentation, with the background design taken from Lithuanian folk textile patterns, specifically the designs of hemp bedspreads with square motifs. The upper ornament incorporates elements from carved wooden wayside shrines—specifically, the tulip motif. The layered texture of the fabric’s pattern reveals a sense of richness and ornamentation.

The project was a collaboration between UAB "Audėjas" and artist Monika Žaltauskaitė-Grašienė.
